A biological method for synthesizing C-vinyl chloride

چکیده
Introduction Vinyl chloride (VC) is a known human carcinogen and an EPA priority pollutant found in at least 496 of the 1430 sites on the National Priorities List. Manufacturing generates roughly 27 million ton of VC per year in the US, predominantly in the production of the polymer polyvinyl chloride. VC accumulates in polluted groundwater through the anaerobic degradation of multi-chlorinated ethenes, such as trichloroethene (TCE) and tetrachloroethene (PCE). Under anaerobic conditions and in the presence of sufficient electron donor, the substitution of chlorine by hydrogen in PCE, TCE and, to some extent cis-dichloroethene (cDCE), occurs relatively rapidly, a process known as halorespiration. However, VC dehalogenates to ethene more slowly. Complicating matters, very few organisms utilize VC as a sole source of carbon and energy. Therefore, the implementation of efficient remediation strategies depends upon a well-developed understanding of the abiotic and microbial factors involved in the various degradation processes for VC. Environmental Education for Mitigating and Assessing Environmental Impacts of Petrochemical Products (Vinyl Chloride) with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Method
today, with rapid advancement of industry and technology, many concerns about the adverse consequences threaten human life. The objective of this research is to investigate environmental education as an implement to reduce and evaluate the environmental consequences of petrochemical products based on the hierarchical analysis. The methodology was a survey of a statistical group involving 30 man...
متن کاملEffect of some additives on degradation of poly (vinyl chloride- co- vinyl
The thermal decomposition of 86 % vinyl chloride 14 % vinyl acetate copolymer wasstudied by the conductometry technique in the presence of nitrogen. The kinetics of stability andthermal degradation of vinyl chloride- co- vinyl acetate (PVC- co- PVAc) copolymer withcopper, copper oxide and tricalcium dicitrate (st) were investigated at various temperatures (150-180 oC ) in solution. The rate coe...
متن کاملSite-specific C-functionalization of free-(NH) peptides and glycine derivatives via direct C-H bond functionalization.
A copper-catalyzed alpha-functionalization of glycine derivatives and short peptides with nucleophiles is described. The present method provides ways to introduce functionalities such as aryl, vinyl, alkynyl, or indolyl specifically to the terminal glycine moieties of small peptides, which are normally difficult in peptide modifications. Furthermore, on functionalization, the configurations of ...
متن کاملTandem Lewis Pair Polymerization and Organocatalytic Ring-Opening Polymerization for Synthesizing Block and Brush Copolymers.
Lewis pair polymerization is a powerful method for preparing soluble polymers bearing pendant active vinyl groups by directly polymerizing dissymmetric divinyl polar monomers. Herein, we present a strategy for synthesizing block and brush copolymers via tandem Lewis pair polymerization of methacrylates, "thiol-ene" click reaction and organocatalytic ring-opening polymerization of lactide.
متن کاملSynthesis of vinyl sulfides by copper-catalyzed decarboxylative C-S cross-coupling.
A novel method for the synthesis of vinyl sulfides by the decarboxylative cross-coupling of arylpropiolic acids with thiols using copper(I) salts as catalysts has been developed. In the presence of CuI and Cs(2)CO(3), a variety of thiols reacted with arylpropiolic acids to afford the corresponding vinyl sulfides in good to excellent yields with high stereoselectivity for Z-isomers.
